Hanging Up the Dream

Written by Joseph Hill

The phone is ringing in you house
From across the ocean I hear it
I am phoning the winner's line
On the back of my lottery ticket
And I wish someone would answer
All you are doing is telling me
Giving me the runner-up prize
Read off the back of my heart so nicely
            Stabbing me
            I miss you
It's been so long since you tasted me
It's been so long since I felt you
            Feeling me
            I miss you
She wears your voice for her Northern Lad
Razor music always seems too loud
I can't understand the riddle songs
Scything a melody to pain
As they slice through my dead skin
Peeling back the ragged scars
Of forgotten dreams, I can hear you
            Losing me
            I miss you
Credits are out, my wasted time is up
I hang up the phone, hanging it up
            I miss you
            Missing me
