Magnet Cranks
Written by Zach Shaw
Took a chance when they told us not to tell
They shot down your kiss, drowning in my wishing well
Great shot with their knees below their chin-strap-thoughts
Deep moves, heavy dreams on fire with the final shot
Took a dive when they sold us their old bones
They cracked your silver reaming whip and stole my broken halo
What a night with their twinkling tongues and Band-Aid rings
Deep throat, heavy chains to pull the magnet cranks and things
Takes my breath to see them knock you around
When they crown your hollow heart and staple my boxes down
Simple minds inside their eyes and behind their doorway heads
Deep days, heavy secrets laced in a thicket of dishonesty
Flavor my kiss with a cynical bliss
In a precious and perverted moment like this
Like this in the night beneath the dark light
A poisoned temptation sets fire and takes flight
Is it really the moon in the trick-or-treat sky?
Is it you and your sex box moaning a withered lullaby?
Is it really the wind hiding between the trees?
Is it you , like a promise kept, sitting on your knees?
Yeah, they took a chance when they shoved their jealousy down
our throats
They cocked back you neck and wrapped me in a thick dove colored coat
What a surprise with their bastardizing boxing-gloved swings
And those taped up lies to fuel the magnet cranks and other things
