The park is empty
Streetlights illuminating the sidewalk
    for no one
The trees are black against a blacker sky,
    the stars eons away
    as I reach for them
They do not want to be touched tonight
The wind whips suddenly through the trees
    and leaves begin to fall
I move towards the creek
and find safety on the banks
the watery roar fills my ears
    as I begin to weep
My nose runs and I wipe it on my sleeve
I wonder where my dreams are now
    they ran away
couldn't stand the sunlight beating on their imperfections
my tears strikes the dead leaves on the dirt
The water runs and forms
pools of sorrow on the cracked faces
I look up to see the moon hovering over me
I reach up to embrace it and hold on to its strength until
    morning
but it dodges behind the safety of the trees
    as I have done
It does not want to be caught either
