Curiosity's Bushes

Jennifer Paige©1995

Sometimes

I just want to crouch in the bushes

With my curiosity

The bushes by your window

The only things separating you world form mine

I long to huddle there

In the darkness

Basking in the glory of you and your candle-lit room

And the chaotic night symphony which echoes around me

The light that slips through your blinds

Tell me to stay

Coax me into silent song

Sometimes

You enter the room

Beads of water clinging to your hair and your body

The dark sprinkling of hair on your abdomen

Trailing downward

Ever downward

Nestling your glory in the shadows of your room

And my blood begins a downward spiral

The night and the light spin on around me

Oh, memory, stay

Coax me into visual ecstasy

Some nights

I think you feel my presence

With my curiosity

In the bushes outside

But you never let me believe you’ve seen me

Do you long to let me in?

Into the light?

To bask in the glory of you in your satin bed sheets

The chaotic night symphony candy to our senses

Sharing the light in our souls

Tell me to stay

Sing me your soul song
