You Stayed Dry
Jennifer Paige©1995
It
rained today
A
million times
Form
the sky
And
my eyes
You stayed inside
All day
Did
you even notice the blonde goddess
Sprawled out upon you bed?
The
woman who makes tying her shoes an art
Each night after the alarm goes off
Do
you remember the curtain of gold surrounding you
That was her hair?
Her
green-eyed fire
Her
brilliance
How does it feel to kiss her?
To receive her kiss?
To love her?
Do
you wonder where she disappeared
Last night
When you held her too tightly?
Do
you love her like mad?
Like
crazy?
Like
sad?
Has
eternity without her been agony?
Do you need her?
Loving
her rarity you trickle away
Like
so many raindrops
Through the gutters
Of time
Passing
your breath over the coals
Seeing
them flare with the essence of you
Your
spirit reddening their blackened remains
Their
gray-white dust rises like fireflies to towards the sun
Reminding
you how fragile you are
How
lost and aimless your tired existence was
Before you met her
How
much you adore
What
could dissolve once the rains dry away
