I Am
Jennifer Paige©1996
I
am standing on a hilltop
Facing
the wind
Becoming
the sun
The
rain
The
face of beauty peers out like the moon between the clouds
I
become that too
Becoming
the air and everything it touches
I
am
Shining
on my stage
For a thousand eyes and onlookers
Shining
in the smoky air
One
voice in the crowd
One
who will listen
Is
all I am
Once
a girl at home
Waiting
for the wheel of Fate to turn
Practicing
my religion religiously
All
crimson and hopeful
In
my longing
Loathing
the time it takes
The
waiting
No
more pretending
My
imaginary appearances and disappearances
I will spellbind
Enchant
them all
I
will shine
Bursting
out of a downpour of denial
Leaving
them all behind
Then
I will Be
