You

Jennifer Paige©1996

I once thought we could burn down the world

But sometimes we can’t see how good it’s not

To be happy

Our two worlds careen

Faster and faster

Harder

More

Than ever before

Until their glassy, marble-eyed spheres shatter and

Glitter the universe with out tiny shards

It’s hard to say I love you

And it’s hard to say I don’t

Where did my goaltender go?

I’m wide open

Unaware of how to feel

And afraid

Are you sorry for what you’ve done?

Tired of fighting?

Too weak to hide?

Defeated

Did you know your mother was the wind?

Your father the trees?

Take asylum here in the harbor of my arms

Where the rhythm waves calm

And warmth is only a touch away

Run from the past like you want to

Escape the persistence of memory

The vortex of Her

Worship the monolith of our love

Take substance from my body

Drink the honey of my loins

And the music of my soul

Paint the canvas that is my skin with your color

Your passion

Your desire could clear your ghosts away

As could your smile
