In, Around and Through

Merely animal man

You were born in the right place, wrong time

When vines of me wrapped in and around and through you

So many secret places I’ve never been

I keep with you hiding

Lost in music made long ago, far away

Nothing’s been the same

            Pretending never you

            When details lose their crispness

Some boy you are to swear yourself unworthy,

            Of kiss undeserving

Confess, run, and swirl in and around and through me again

Your name at my feet

Northern lad, like a sunset

Finding the woman

Frozen in a pretty silver curl

Blinking away the dust from long-closed eyes

You have a way with words

            Never heard before

Don’t say that you…don’t!

Never seen eyes like the blues you drive

In and around and through me

Till I’m on the verge of rain

            And spinning on a whim
