Moon Mother

Jennifer Paige©1999

Moon mother wrap me in your shining arms

            And cradle me

Mother may I?

See your silvery aura in dreams surrounded

And through my window, illuminating sleep?

Somehow summer sucked the sanguine vital

From my eyes with heated breath

Leaving me blind to the glory of night,

Unable to see the stars for the sun.

Morning-after-mourning made garish by daylight

Is bittersweet when viewed in you light.

All is gossamer there beneath your eyes

In glowing visages awe remains through long days

Until you brighten evening horizons again.
