There's a broken heart crying out tonight

And another just learning to fight

There's a spark of hope flickering in her eyes

As another's sputters and dies

     Once for every light, a darkness settles in

     For every enemy, there is someone to call "friend"

CHORUS     Balance deals in opposites

                    And everything we feel

                    Has to have its balance

                    For us to know it's real

Prayers in the night to save a life

While another prays death to end the strife

The wealthy man keeps getting paid

And poor man's without bread at the end of the day

     We've got a special lesson to learn

     The point of this life is not what we earn
