They'll still judge you by your past

Though you've forged the long path back

Enshrouded by a word

That hangs in the air, and haunting silence ever heard

I wonder what they think they saw

As they cower in fear, or is it awe?

The symbol of a life

Rather than life itself, triumphant, free to fly

                     We sentence without even trying

Is there power in this voice?

Or are you left without the choice

Is injustice evermore,

No option to right the wrong in a hallway of locked doors
