Hanging Up the Dream

Jennifer Paige©2000

The phone is ringing in your house

From across the ocean I can hear it

I'm phoning the winner's line

I found on the back of my lottery ticket

And I wish someone would answer

To stop this droning in my ears for me

But this ringing is the runner up prize

You're handing back my heart to me so nicely

But I don't want your sugared smile

Stabbing me, I miss you, oh--

It's been so long since you've touched me

So long since I've felt you, oh--

     Feel me, I miss you

Wielding love songs like a razor

The radio's a demon in my mind

Haunting me in moonlight

The singer wears your voice like a shroud

Peeling back forgotten scars

And seeding them with riddles I cannot solve

In the melody of forgotten dreams

And whispers on the wind you're calling me

But I can see your veiled eyes

Losing me, I miss you, oh--

It's been too long since you've clung to me

With passion as I've kissed you, oh--

     Answer me, I miss you

My coins have all run out

Telling me my wasted time is up

I'm hanging up the phone

Hanging it up

     I miss you missing me
