Learning to Live

Jennifer Paige©2000

What she lacked held her tight

Petrified by the dark

Even more afraid of the fire she'd ignite

Fanning hope's tiny spark

Her voice so fragile and small,

     Bound by invisible chains

Her heart bruised and battered would crawl

Through the battle grounds of pain

Chorus     She needed to learn how to live again

                Find the strength missing within

                Learn how to live again

                Oh, but where to begin?

She had to let it go...

Gone out drinking again with her friends

Determined to numb painful thoughts

Hoping it would bring the desired end

And breaking every rule she was ever taught

Until the day the bottom fell out

Leaving no way to pick herself up

She had to seek an alternate route

Never knew it could be so tough

Repeat Chorus

Bridge     She held her head up high

And looked herself in the eye

And said, "All I have to do is try.

Only then can I truly fly."

So when the pain visits you again

Which it will no matter how you deny

Absorb it, take it in

It brings change to your life

     Keep the faith in yourself

'Cause only you can keep you strong

When you finally learn to love yourself

It's then you begin to move on

Chorus II     And you'll be learning to live again

Having found the strength deep within

                    Learning to live again

You only have to want to begin

                    Then just let it go...
