You Stop the Sands

Jennifer Paige©2000

Holding on to moments, precious and few

All I have are moments when I'm with you

Sometimes days go by without me in them

And I'm so aware of this emptiness without you--

I have a hundred whispers, faint with age

Which I'll never have the chance to tell you

And there's a place where there's no time

When you're in these arms of mine

Where I find peace of mind

You take my hand and stop the sands

Going on, moving forward, reluctant to leave

I want to see where love goes when it dies

Pooling deep in your eyes, there I find

Every spare instant of my life staying with you--

What do I do now, left without your grace?

Wandering the cold world, this space beside me to fill

Abandoned by kiss and laughter, never again to see

Our future in your eyes, you smiling up at me

When I find peace of mind

You take my hand and stop the sands
