I Think It's You
Jennifer Paige©2000
I've got a map of the Milky Way hanging on my wall
And colored tacks mark all the other places I would love to see
Constellations yet unnamed huddled 'round another sun
Watching stars form for eternity nestled in a nebula's arms
But there's something that I'd miss
In spite of all of this
In a galaxy far away
That could make me want to stay--
I think it's you
And there are pictures from around the world in a box beneath my bed
Sent from friends or cut from magazines, all the places I've never been
And I watch foreign films, I eat regional cuisine
Drink imported wine and buy exotic things in an attempt to find my niche
But there's something I still miss
In spite of all of this
In all that's far away
That could make me want to stay--
I think it's you
There's a silver Challenger for sale in the auto lot
That I imagine sits in my driveway polished and gleaming chrome
I'd put my six-string in the back, Kerouac in the passenger's seat
With a full tank of gas we'll head out on the road trip of the century
But there's something I would miss
In spite of all of this
On the road everyday
That could make me want to stay--
I think it's you, I think it's you
Thought of a quiet little life where I could finally write
With a home and a dog and maybe even kids, more happiness than we can hold
I could show off my china plates or tell stories by the fire
Kiss the kids goodnight, put the dog outside, and turn in for the night
But there's someone I would miss
Despite all this bliss
You're the peace in everyday
That'll make me want to stay
And I'll stay and stay and stay
I think it's you, I think it's you
Baby, it's you
