Songs 2001-04
Sadly, these were sparse years for me in the realm of songwriting. I was finishing my BA in English for much of the time, and this is reflected on my poetry pages. This didn't leave much time for music. This changed in the latter portion of 2005, so that is the excuse for slim pickin's on this page.
I heard Gently Johnny, the traditional English folk song, sometime for the first time in 2001. I thought the chorus was lovely, and felt it would fit lyrics I had long since shelved. It is a little frentic, a little frightning, and my voice reflects this if the lyrics do not.
Sister to your Soul is a song for my musical soul brother, James. I wrote it to commorate his return to Texas after our short musical interlude in 2001-02. We parted in the promise of a future musical life together, something starcrossed at the time. This is a song of hope, a blessing for the long journey and closing the gap created from the distance separating us. A talisman for our paths coming together again sooner rather than later.
